Des Moines : Two Down, One to Go?

Saturday, September 13, 2008, 02:01 AM CST [General]

The first two weekends went fairly well!  The crowds were very receptive, and we caused just enough trouble not to be thrown out of faire.....yet!  The mud pit this year was better than last year, just barely (we still had an injury opening weekend due to obstructions in the mud).  We were disappointed however that the faire did not seem to expand any from last year.  Some of that is probably due to the flooding in Iowa this spring/summer.  But all that appears to be done is enough landscaping to try to make things more pretty.

As we were getting ready for the third and final weekend, we were informed that it is being postponed due to incoming weather.  Probably a good idea since the site really cannot handle the weather and the traffic at the same time.

The only problem is that we are scheduled to do pirate fest on the same weekend (Sept 20-21) that the powers that be have rescheduled the final week of Des Moines for.  Either Festivals Intl has forgotten they  have another faire that weekend, or they think they can handle two faires at once.  So it will be interesting to see where we will end up.

Any way you will still be able to catch us at the Sioxland Riversance Faire in Sioux City, IA

So until then be sure to keep having fun, even if they tell you to stop!

Ren Faire Readiness and a Suprise!

Monday, July 14, 2008, 09:56 AM CST [General]

Well we are getting ready for the second half of the season to start up.  It will begin with a group trip to the Minnesota Ren Faire opening weekend.  Then continue with Des Moines, where we will be doing street performing as well as putting on the Mud Show for the second straight year!  So please feel free to come and check us out!

But a major suprise has hit The Horsemen, when it was revealed this last weekend that Giovanni and Lady Annabelle will be moving out of the friendly confines of Horsemen territory and towards no mans land! (otherwise known as Middle Iowa).  But fear not they will still be participating as much as possible!

So that is all for now, till next time....have as much fun as you can until they tell you to stop!

I fail to see how you can confuse me with "Vanna". I could never wear some of the things she does.

My friends, do your worst. He has met and made great friends with Raphael, much to my embarassment & chagrin amidst a rousing rendition of "Matthew's Mom". He is looking forward to meeting you and the next ren faire! He's a big boy and can take care of himself. Believe me when I say that while he may protest his innocence he has an awesome pair of horns supporting that purported halo. So, no holds barred.
