Des Moines : Two Down, One to Go?

Saturday, September 13, 2008, 02:01 AM CST [General]

The first two weekends went fairly well!  The crowds were very receptive, and we caused just enough trouble not to be thrown out of faire.....yet!  The mud pit this year was better than last year, just barely (we still had an injury opening weekend due to obstructions in the mud).  We were disappointed however that the faire did not seem to expand any from last year.  Some of that is probably due to the flooding in Iowa this spring/summer.  But all that appears to be done is enough landscaping to try to make things more pretty.

As we were getting ready for the third and final weekend, we were informed that it is being postponed due to incoming weather.  Probably a good idea since the site really cannot handle the weather and the traffic at the same time.

The only problem is that we are scheduled to do pirate fest on the same weekend (Sept 20-21) that the powers that be have rescheduled the final week of Des Moines for.  Either Festivals Intl has forgotten they  have another faire that weekend, or they think they can handle two faires at once.  So it will be interesting to see where we will end up.

Any way you will still be able to catch us at the Sioxland Riversance Faire in Sioux City, IA

So until then be sure to keep having fun, even if they tell you to stop!

Ren Faire Readiness and a Suprise!

Monday, July 14, 2008, 09:56 AM CST [General]

Well we are getting ready for the second half of the season to start up.  It will begin with a group trip to the Minnesota Ren Faire opening weekend.  Then continue with Des Moines, where we will be doing street performing as well as putting on the Mud Show for the second straight year!  So please feel free to come and check us out!

But a major suprise has hit The Horsemen, when it was revealed this last weekend that Giovanni and Lady Annabelle will be moving out of the friendly confines of Horsemen territory and towards no mans land! (otherwise known as Middle Iowa).  But fear not they will still be participating as much as possible!

So that is all for now, till next time....have as much fun as you can until they tell you to stop!

First Half of Faire Season Complete!

Monday, June 2, 2008, 09:29 AM CST [General]

It seems very weird to say, but it is barely June and the first part of our faire season is over, and has been since last weekend with Midwest Ren Fest.  We don't have all the June faires we are use to performing in this year.  But luckily our fall schedule wil kep us more than busy enough to make us forget all this free time.  I just hope we can stay out of trouble enough between now and then!

As for Midwest Ren Fest, for the first year it was put on, it did fairly well.  It had some verry good acts that we had never seen before, the only thing we would suggest is to try to bring the faire as a whole back to family friendly standards.  It semed to get a way from everyone, and alot of people forget that parents bring their kids.

But other than that, we think management did a good job trying to keep eveyone happy!  And they are well on their way for next year!

Well good luck to all those who still have faires this summer, we will be thinking of you while you sweat and we relax! Oh and one addendum to our schedule is our annual Big Faire group trip will be to the Minnesota Festival this year on Opening Weekend (Aug 16-17) so if you are going to be there and see us, stop us and say hello!

    2008 Faire Schedule

Monday, June 2, 2008, 09:27 AM CST [General]

Well Folks, here it is wether you want it or not!  All the places you can either come to see us or make sure to hide fro us:)

May 3-4  Iowa Ren Faire    Amana Colonies, IA

May 16-18, 24-26 RFotM   Omaha, NE    (AKA Midwest Ren Fest)

Aug 30 - Sep14  DMRF       Des Moines, IA

Sep 27-28 Midlands Pirate  Bellevue, NE

Oct 4-5  Riversance            Sioux City, IA

Now this is only the ones we are scheduled for at this time, we still have a few phones working. But we are sad to note that this is the first year in its history that The Horsemen have not been hired for the Sioux Falls Ren Faire.  We will miss our freinds up there, but we do wish them luck!

Looks like March is going to be a fairly quiet month for us (unlike Feb - 3 Demos and too many meetings), so we all get to relax and take a breath.  We just got done with a sewing night to try to make ourselves look more beautiful for you all (hofeully you appreciate it).

We will give you more updates as they come, till then remember to cause as much trouble as you can, life is only so short! :)
